By using The Project Factory website, you authorize Desjardins Group to collect, use and disclose your personal information to help you support projects that are important to you.

  • Your mailing address (so we'll have it on file if you make a contribution)
  • Your cell phone number (so we can verify your identity if you forget your password)

When you create a project

Are you leading a special project? Your initiative and team are making your school proud!

To create a project and its summary page, you'll need to provide the following information:

  • Your first and last names
  • Your email address
  • The first and last names of the project team members
  • The email addresses of the project team members

Before providing other people's contact information, make sure they've all consented to being listed as a member of your team.

What is this personal information used for?

Post the initials of each project's team leaders and members

Give project leaders and members the right levels of access to their project pages and fundraising activities

Conduct surveys (through an external firm) to help us improve our services and user experience

Enable us to answer your questions or contact you if the need arises

When you contribute to a project

Thank you for supporting a project—or several! When you contribute to a project, you'll need to provide the following information:

  • Your first and last names
  • Your email address
  • Your mailing address
  • Your phone number

We need to collect all of this personal information, but we won't display your name and contribution amount online unless you authorize us to do so.

What is this personal information used for?

Enable project leaders to track contributions received

Send you thank-you messages or perks associated with your contribution

Conduct surveys (through an external firm) to help us improve our services and user experience

Enable us to answer your questions or contact you if the need arises

Provide assistance, support and answers to your questions

We collect information about you each time you visit The Project Factory website.

From other sources

When you register a school

To register a school on The Project Factory website, the school must provide:

  • The principal's full name, email address and telephone number
  • The full names, email addresses and telephone numbers of the school's designated approvers

What is this personal information used for?

Clarifies who is responsible for overseeing each school's projects

Enables us to contact these individuals when necessary

We do not collect your banking information

We do not have access to your banking information. Contributions to projects are processed on the secure Global Payments platform.

Who has access to my personal information?

Your personal information can only be accessed by employees and consultants who need it in order to perform their work duties.

Our employees and consultants commit annually to protect the confidentiality of the personal information they need to perform their duties and must regularly take security and privacy training.

Who can my personal information be disclosed to?

Our commitment is clear: We will never sell your personal information to anyone.

However, we may need to disclose your personal information to third parties in the normal course of business.

The members of The Project Factory team

Your personal information can only be accessed by people who need it to perform their duties, such as those who evaluate school projects.

Your information may also be accessed by Desjardins employees if they need to help The Project Factory process requests.

All employees adhere to a code of ethics and are committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information.

Representatives of the projects you support

The Project Factory shares the following personal information with representatives of the projects you support:

  • Your first and last names
  • Your email address
  • Your mailing address

Project representatives need this information in order to contact you, send you thank-you notes and deliver the perks associated with your contribution. These representatives may be project leaders, team mentors or the school's designated approvers.

Suppliers and partners

We may disclose information about you to suppliers and partners.

Here are some examples of suppliers and partners we may disclose it to:

IT product and service companies

App developers

Cloud, web hosting and data processing services

Survey firms

They must contractually agree to comply with and abide by our strict standards to protect and maintain the confidentiality of your personal information as outlined in this Policy. We entrust our suppliers and partners with only the personal information they need to perform their duties, functions and contractual obligations.

In addition to being subject to confidentiality obligations, the employees of suppliers who have access to personal information must also fully comply with our contractual requirements. All suppliers and partners must apply adequate physical, IT and administrative security measures.

We'll inform you if a new need arises, unless we're authorized by law to disclose your information without your consent. In all cases, we ensure the protection and confidentiality of the information we disclose.

Regular training and awareness-building campaigns for employees and consultants on the Code of Professional Conduct, and on policies, practices and procedures relating to security and privacy

Where is my personal information stored?

Your data is stored in Canada only. Your personal information will stay in Canada and is protected by applicable federal and provincial laws.

We retain personal information so that schools can achieve their project goals and send receipts to the people who contribute.

How is my information stored?

We store your personal information in a secure and confidential manner for as long as required by law.

For example, in Canada, we're subject to laws and regulations that stipulate minimum retention periods. The retention periods must ensure that any potential remedies and limitation periods applicable in Canada have been exhausted. These retention periods vary depending on the situation, so we may retain your personal information after your relationship with us has ended.

When and how is information disposed of?

Once the retention period has expired, we ensure that your personal information is safely disposed of or anonymized. While deletion is a final and irreversible disposal process, anonymization means that your personal information is altered so that it can no longer directly or indirectly identify you.

Deletion or anonymization is done safely and securely, in accordance with applicable best practices.
